After the 44-day war, the cases of suicides among former Azerbaijani military personnel, which gained considerable attention, are presented by Azerbaijan to its internal audience as acts of individuals with mental disorders. It turns out that individuals with "health problems" were not only among the participants of the war, but were also awarded by order of the country's leader as "heroes" for their participation in military operations. No matter how hard official Baku tries to present these events in other light, facts speak for themselves.
1.Vusal Musayev
One of the Azerbaijani soldiers who committed suicide at the Armed Forces Main Clinical Hospital is Vusal Musayev. According to his brother, Ramin Musayev, Vusal committed suicide in the hospital bathroom using a bathrobe belt. It should be noted that Vusal Musayev was one of those war participants who had distinguished himself during military operations and was awarded the "Brave Fighter" medal[1].
2. Alim Mammadov
Captain Alim Mammadov was born in 1989. He was the commander of one of the special purpose units of the Internal Troops. He committed suicide using a pistol[2].
3. Ulvi Isgandarov
Isgandarov, born in 1997, took his own life in the Agdash region. Prior to the war, he had been employed as a security worker at an organization in Baku but found himself unemployed after the war. In an interview, Isgandarov's father revealed that his son had struggled to find work for over a year. "It's incredibly difficult. My son's primary concern was unemployment. He applied everywhere, but to no avail. We never imagined he would make such a step." [3]
Royal Aliyev, a friend of Isgandarov, added: "A man who fought bravely for a long period, demonstrating heroism in the battles of Fizuli[4], Gubadli[5], Jabrayil[6], and Zangilan[7], yet he wasn't awarded a single medal." [8] Aliyev emphasized that his friend's main problems were employment and not being awarded a medal.
4. Rufat Nabizade
Lieutenant Rufat Nabizade served in the special unit of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Before the war, Nabizade had joined the YAŞMA unit. By order of Ilham Aliyev, he was awarded medals "For the Liberation of Fizuli", "For the Liberation of Jabrayil", "For the Liberation of Shushi", and "For Distinction in Military Service"[9].
5. Elchin Huseynzade
Elchin Huseynzade, a resident of the Khazar region, was another participant in the 44-day war. Huseynzade's death was reported by Haji Valiyev, the president of the "Young Veterans Public Union". According to him, a letter was found in the pocket of the soldier who committed suicide, which was handed over to the prosecutor's office[10].
6. Namin Mammadov
Warrant officer Namin Mammadov is another Azerbaijani soldier who committed suicide. He committed suicide at his home while on leave. It should be noted that Mammadov had also distinguished himself in battles and was awarded the medal "For the Liberation of Sugovushan[11]".[12]
