The Geghard Scientific-Analytical Foundation of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, in academic collaboration with Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, announce the launch of the International Congress “Armeno-Georgica,” a biennial scholarly forum devoted to the comprehensive study of Armenian–Georgian historical and cultural interactions from Antiquity to the Modern period (early XIX century).
The Congress is conceived in the spirit of the classical Caucasological school, actively integrating contemporary methodological approaches, including comparative history, historical anthropology, memory studies, source studies, historiography and digital humanities.
The congress consists of the main academic conference, and also includes roundtables on contemporary topics, designed to explore potential avenues for cooperation and dialogue between the Armenian and Georgian intellectual communities.
THEMATIC SECTIONS
Proposals for additional panels and thematic roundtables are welcome.
The Congress aims to establish a biennial international forum under the title “Armeno-Georgica”.
Planned outcomes include:
ROUNDTABLES AND POLICY-ORIENTED DISCUSSIONS
Workshops and round-table discussions will also be held in an associated format within the framework of the Congress, dedicated to the improvement of the Armenian - Georgian relations and to the discussion of issues aimed at fostering their positive dynamics and development (themes of roundtables will be announced during March 2026).

Deadline for Abstract Submission: 1 June 2026.
Notification of Acceptance: 1 July 2026
Working Language: English and Armenian.
Format: On-site participation with limited hybrid access.
Expected Date: September 2-4, 2026.

ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
The Organizing Committee includes representatives of Armenian and Georgian academic institutions in cooperation with European research centers. The full list of committee members will be announced in the official program.
The convening of the Congress represents the outcome of sustained and fruitful scholarly cooperation between the Tbilisi State University’s Ivane Javakhishvili Institute of History and Ethnology and the Geghard Scientific-Analytical Foundation of the NAS RA. It reflects a shared commitment to advancing academic dialogue and fostering constructive Armenian–Georgian intellectual engagement.
The Congress is a biennial international forum, alternating between Yerevan and Tbilisi as its host cities.
