The Armenian village of Hnghar in the Aghsu district was located 2.5 km west of the village of Gyurjevan. The village consisted of three neighborhoods: Upper, Lower, and Middle. Sources indicate that the inhabitants of Hnghar were indigenous Shirvanis.
In 1861, Hnghar was exclusively inhabited by Armenians and had 101 households. During the visit of the Bishop Makar Barkhutaryants in 1890, the three neighborhoods of Hnghar had 131 Armenian households, with a population of 398 males and 333 females. In 1904, the village had 166 households with 1,061 inhabitants, while in 1914, it had 1,048 Armenians.
The village of Hnghar suffered greatly in 1918 during the attack by Turkish forces and Musavatists.
In 1986, the village remained predominantly Armenian, with a population of 177, of whom 176 were Armenians. In 1988, Azerbaijani authorities forcibly displaced the Armenian population of Hnghar.
The village had a church named Surb Astvatsatsin, which has not been preserved. Tombstones of the clergy who served there were found in the church's territory.
Makar Barkhudaryants copied and published the construction inscription of the Hnghar village church.

In memory of the Armenian community of the village of Hnghar,
Through his efforts, great labor, and expenses, especially those of the elders.
However, the church had existed earlier and was renovated in that year. This is confirmed by the inscription on the tombstone of one of the clergy who served there:

The village is now called Hinqar and is inhabited by Azerbaijanis.
