The Azerbaijani authorities establish numerous organizations in various countries around the world which, by distorting historical events, aim to reshape the perception of Armenians in the eyes of the international community.
Under the initiative of Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora, so-called "Azerbaijani Houses" are being established in various countries around the world, aimed at uniting Azerbaijanis living abroad.
The geographical scope of the "Azerbaijani Houses" operating abroad
While these organizations claim to "unite Azerbaijanis living abroad," in reality, they serve a different purpose outside the country—namely, to carry out anti-Armenian propaganda and organize exhibitions and events against the Armenian.
Thus, under the initiative of the "Azerbaijani Houses," an event titled "Crimes of Genocide and Deportation against Western Azerbaijanis" was held in April 2024 in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. The event also featured the screening of the "İZ" (translated as "Trace") "documentary" film, once again accusing Armenians of destroying the historical monuments of the imaginary region of "Western Azerbaijan," including castles, palaces, tombs, mosques, bridges, and more.
Such anti-Armenian events organized by the Azerbaijani diaspora are multithematic. In February, the newly opened "Azerbaijani House" in Krakow, Poland, held an exhibition dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the so-called Khojaly "genocide," claiming to provide the Poles with detailed information about the "ethnic cleansing" and "killings".
In an interview with journalists, Fuad Muradov, the head of the State Committee on Work with the Diaspora, stated that there are plans to open more "Azerbaijani Houses," including branches in the Czechia and Iraq. He mentioned that they support the publication of books in various languages about the "liberated" territories, including the German-language edition of the book The History of Shushi.
It is beyond doubt that the activity of the Azerbaijani diaspora is based on anti-Armenian content. The regime in Baku spares no effort in using the diaspora to present distorted anti-Armenian narratives to the international community.
