Azerbaijanis claim a renaissance of medieval Azerbaijani culture, but the reality is different

One of the fabrications in Azerbaijani historiography is the ridiculous expression "the renaissance of medieval Azerbaijani culture." Under this term, Azerbaijan seeks to depict the Armenian, Iranian, and Turkic-speaking Muslim poets, architects, and scholars from Shirvan and Atrpatakan who produced works in the 11th and 12th centuries as Azerbaijanis. This misrepresentation serves as the foundation for speaking about their so-called "Azerbaijani renaissance." Representatives of this "renaissance" include Iranian poets Nizami Ganjavi, Mujir al-Din Baylaqani, Khaghani Shirvani, philosopher Abul-Hasan Bakhmanyar, architect Ajami of Nakhijevan, and others.

Generally, when discussing the Renaissance, we typically think of the European Renaissance (14th-16th centuries). It is known that the 10th to 14th centuries are considered a period of Armenian cultural renaissance. In light of the fabricated concept of "Azerbaijani renaissance," it is improbable that a people who did not exist during the medieval period could have had a culture or claim to a renaissance.
