Azerbaijanis consider the Scythians as one of their Turkic ancestors, but the reality is different

There are mentions of Scythians in Assyrian, Urartian, and ancient sources. In the 7th century BC, crossing the Caucasus Mountains, they settled in the eastern part of the Armenian Highlands and in the areas near Lake Urmia. Strabo, mentioning them as Saka, notes that the Scythians in Armenia possessed the best lands; from this, they received their name - Sakasene (Armenian: Shakashen). During their campaigns, the Scythians reached as far as Palestine. In a later period, they returned to the northern coastal areas of the Black Sea.

In Urartian sources, their country was called Ishkiyulu or Ishkuyulkhi, in Assyrian - Ashguza or Ishguza, and in the Old Testament (Book of Jeremiah) - Ashkenaz. World historiography and linguistics consider the Scythians to be one of the Iranian peoples belonging to the Indo-European language family. Azerbaijani "historiography," which creates in a parallel reality and mainly in the genre of fantasy, connects all important events of the region with the Azerbaijani people.
