Azerbaijanis attempt to present the Tbilisi Emirate and the city of Tbilisi as Azerbaijani, but the reality is different

According to a legend, the city of Tbilisi was founded by the Georgian king Vakhtang Gorgasali in the 5th century. Later, it became the center of the Kingdom of Georgia and Georgian marzpanate. In the 8th century, the city was conquered by the Arabs, who established the Emirate of Tbilisi, which, by the 10th century, had become an independent Muslim state in Eastern Georgia, predominantly populated by Georgians. In the 12th century, King David IV the Builder of Georgia finally liberated the city and restored it as the capital of the Georgian state. Since 1918, Tbilisi has been the capital of the Republic of Georgia.

There are many references to the city in Georgian, Byzantine, Armenian, Arab-Muslim, and other sources; however, there is no document or source where this Georgian city is mentioned as Azerbaijani.
